We at ClaimWizard are taking steps to protect our staff, just like we’ve highlighted below – that is what got me thinking I should share the love… and not the illness!
Be safe, and we are always here to help – especially virtually!
General Tips for Public Adjusting Companies
Office Staff– Work from home if possible. If you are a ClaimWizard user, you can easily work on every claim from the comfort of your own home! You may need to forward your work phones to a mobile device if you don’t currently use a VoIP solution.
Adjusters– Work from home (don’t go into the office or a coffee shop) if possible. Minimize interactions with clients if possible
Adjuster On-Site Considerations
If at possible, stay a distance of six feet from other people (as per CDC guidelines)
Practice proper hand hygiene & avoid touching your face & cough/sneeze in your elbow
Wear disposable gloves and use shoe covers and keep a trash bag in your vehicle trunk to store these as soon as you leave a property)
Carry disinfectant wipes (for disinfection, diluted household bleach solutions, alcohol solutions with at least 70% alcohol, and most common EPA-registered household disinfectants should be effective*CDC website) and clean common surfaces such as doorknobs, computers, countertops, faucets, etc
When you arrive home, remove all work clothing and wash immediately. Shower immediately. Keep shoes in garage or outside. Do not sit on any of your furniture or bedding with outside work clothing on
Inventory & Estimates
Work from photos if possible (Matterportis a great solution) to minimize amount of time spent in a property
Contact clients before going to a property to inquire if any members of the household or business have been sick or self-quarantined
Don’t share pens with clients to sign contracts – leave a brand new branded pen for them to keep 😉
Send/receive checks via FedEx to minimize contact with people
Offer to video conference (FaceTime,Google Duo,WhatsApp, orZoomworks great) with clients, vendors, or carrier adjusters to get site work completed without exposing each other to any illness
If you work with commercial clients that may be impacted as far as workforce or location availability, reach out to them ASAP to see if in any way “business interruption” protocols can be followed. Help them decipher their policy and be prepared with income statements, payroll, etc. so that if a BI claim is needed, you can help them quickly.
Marketing
Think about reaching out to your clients with email (we likeMailChimpandConstant Contact). Don’t share crazy un-verified things (especially memes!) about the pandemic, just remind clients you are here to help them and are taking precautions to keep them safe when they employ your services
Even better? Video email! I’ve just started usingBombBomband LOVE it! Especially in uncertain times (either property damage or a virus) it is comforting to see a friendly face!
Try to reassure your potential clients that if they have a claim it is imperative to still work with you and not be nervous about ‘strangers’ coming into their properties and exposing them to illness.
